The Group of Twenty, commonly known as the G20, is an international forum for governments and central bank governors from 19 of the world’s largest economies and the European Union. Established in 1999 in response to the financial crises of the late 1990s, the G20 was created to foster global economic stability and sustainable growth by bringing together major advanced and emerging economies. While its initial focus was primarily on economic and financial policy coordination, the G20 has since expanded its agenda to include critical global issues such as climate change, development, health, and digitalization. Representing around 85% of global GDP, over 75% of international trade, and two-thirds of the world’s population, the G20 plays a central role in shaping international economic policy and addressing pressing global challenges through dialogue and cooperation.
